Small business websites in Boca Raton

A Boca Raton business website should be easy to read for an older-than-average audience: large text, strong contrast, prices stated plainly and a phone number you can tap. Say whether you serve the city itself, unincorporated West Boca, or both, because they are different places with different paperwork. Businesses inside city limits need a city business tax receipt and certificate of use, plus a Palm Beach County receipt.

Design for an older-than-average audience

Boca Raton has the oldest population of the four South Florida cities we cover, and that should shape how the site looks and reads.

  • 24.6% of residents are 65 or older, out of 101,582 people in the July 2025 estimate [1]. In West Palm Beach the share is 21.5%, in Fort Lauderdale 19.6% and in Miami 15.9%, by the same Census series.
  • 25.2% speak a language other than English at home and 20.4% were born abroad (2020 to 2024) [1].

In practice: body text of at least 18 pixels, dark text on a light background, buttons big enough for a thumb, the phone number at the top of every page, and prices or "from" prices in words rather than "call for a quote". Those choices also line up with the accessibility basics in the Justice Department's guidance; our accessibility guide walks through them.

City of Boca Raton or West Boca?

Many people who say they live "in Boca" live outside the city, and that matters for both your paperwork and the way your website names your area.

The Sheriff's Office district for West Boca Raton covers 40 square miles of unincorporated Palm Beach County west of the City of Boca Raton [2]. Customers there search for "Boca" just as city residents do, so name both on your service area section: "Boca Raton and West Boca". If your shop or office is in the unincorporated area, the city's receipt doesn't apply to that location, but the county's does [4].

The city's receipt and certificate of use

Inside city limits, Boca Raton issues a combined business tax receipt and certificate of use for each business location.

  • The city counts selling goods or services, displaying a sign, advertising, or filing as a business with the State of Florida as operating a business [3].
  • Fees listed by the city include a $50 zoning review and $45 code, fire and utility inspections where they apply [3].
  • "All businesses and professional offices in Boca Raton must also obtain a Business Tax Receipt from Palm Beach County": city approval comes first, then the county form [3].
  • Palm Beach County receipts renew between July 1 and September 30 [4].

Working on both sides of the county line

Boca Raton sits on the Palm Beach-Broward line, so many local businesses take jobs in two counties with different rules.

Deerfield Beach, Parkland and Coconut Creek are in Broward, which is inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone; Palm Beach County is not [5]. A roofer, window installer or general contractor working on both sides should say on the service page which building requirements each job follows, and show the license that covers each county. Florida law requires that license number in every advertisement; see our Florida license number guide. North of the city, Highland Beach and Delray Beach stay in Palm Beach County.

What fits a Boca Raton business

Clear, calm and specific tends to suit the customers here better than flashy, and it costs less to build and maintain.

  • Home services and trades: the Business Site ($599), with a page per service, a clear area section naming the city, West Boca and the Broward towns you cover, and the license line.
  • Salons, studios and shops: the Starter Site ($249): one readable page with hours, prices, booking link and map.
  • Several services in several towns: the Growth Site ($1,500), up to 20 pages.

Run your current site through the free Website Check and the accessibility checker, or see the pages for salons and contractors.

Questions from Boca Raton owners

What owners in and around Boca ask when planning a website.

Is bigger text really worth it?

Yes. Nearly a quarter of Boca Raton residents are 65 or older, and larger, higher-contrast text helps every visitor reading on a phone in the sun.

My address says Boca Raton. How do I know if I'm in the city?

Check the property with the city or the Palm Beach County property appraiser. A Boca Raton mailing address alone doesn't settle it.

Should I make a separate page for Deerfield Beach?

Only if the work there is genuinely different, for example because of Broward's hurricane-zone rules. Otherwise list it in your service area section.
