Small business websites in West Palm Beach

A West Palm Beach small-business website should say plainly what you do, which parts of the city and Palm Beach County you serve, and how to reach you, with a license number in the footer if you're a contractor. Nearly a third of residents speak a language other than English at home, so a second language is often worth it. Before you advertise, get both the city and the county business tax receipts.

Who your customers are in West Palm Beach

The Census Bureau's figures for the city describe a mixed, partly renting, multilingual customer base that a website should be written for.

  • 127,189 residents in the July 2025 estimate [1].
  • 31.3% of residents aged five and up speak a language other than English at home, and 28.2% were born outside the U.S. (2020 to 2024) [1].
  • About half of homes are owner-occupied (50.5%), so landlords and property managers are a real share of the customers for repair and cleaning trades [1].
  • 21.5% are 65 or older [1]: large text, strong contrast and a phone number you can tap matter.

What that means on the page: write the services in plain English, add Spanish or Haitian Creole if your customers use them (our Business Site includes a second language), and say whether you work for renters, owners and property managers.

City and county business tax receipts

Running a business inside West Palm Beach takes two receipts, and the city's page explains the order clearly.

  • City receipt: required for anyone "doing business within the City of West Palm Beach" [2].
  • Working from home: you add a Home Occupation Affidavit, notarized and signed by you and the property owner [2].
  • County receipt as well: the city says that if you get its receipt, "you will also need to obtain one from Palm Beach County"; the city counter signs off zoning on the county form [2].
  • Renewals: Palm Beach County receipts renew from July 1 to September 30 and are delinquent from October 1 [3]. A calendar reminder saves a penalty.

Your receipts don't go on the website, but your business name on the site should match the one on them and on your Google listing.

If you're a contractor in Palm Beach County

Contractors here hold either a state license or a certificate from the county's own licensing board, and either number belongs on the website.

The Construction Industry Licensing Board of Palm Beach County certifies about 50 categories of construction work, and keeping a certificate requires general liability insurance, workers' compensation or an exemption, a surety bond and a local business tax receipt [4]. Florida law requires the license number in every advertisement, regardless of medium; our Florida license number guide covers where to put it. Palm Beach County sits outside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which applies only to Miami-Dade and Broward [5], so roofers and window installers working on both sides of the county line should say which rules each job follows.

Naming your service area around the city

Customers describe West Palm Beach by neighborhood and by the cities around it, and your website should use the same names they type.

  • In the city: Downtown and Clematis Street, Northwood, Flamingo Park, El Cid, Grandview Heights, and the western neighborhoods off Okeechobee Boulevard.
  • Next door: Riviera Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Greenacres, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington and the Town of Palm Beach across the Intracoastal.

Many of those are separate cities, so check whether a job there needs anything from that city's business tax office. List them in one service area section rather than a page per town; our service area guide explains when a town deserves its own page.

What we would build for a West Palm Beach business

For most local service businesses here, a small site that answers the obvious questions in two languages does more than a big one in one.

  • Trades and home services: the Business Site ($599): a page per main service, a service area section, the license line, and English plus Spanish or Haitian Creole.
  • A single shop, café or studio: the Starter Site ($249): one page with hours, menu or services, map and phone.
  • Just testing an idea: a Landing Page ($99).

Every package is one time, with a free preview before you pay. Start by running your current site through the free Website Check, or see the trade pages for plumbers, landscapers and cleaners.

Questions from West Palm Beach owners

What local owners ask when they plan a website.

Do I need a city receipt if I'm based outside West Palm Beach but do jobs there?

The city's page ties the receipt to doing business within the city and doesn't spell out that case. Ask the city's business tax office before you advertise there.

Should my site be in Spanish or Haitian Creole?

If a meaningful share of your callers prefer one of them, yes. Nearly a third of West Palm Beach residents speak a language other than English at home.

Do you only build for West Palm Beach businesses?

No. Sitelings builds for small businesses anywhere; this page collects local notes for owners here.
